Landfill gas system design

The process for designing gas extraction systems should ideally start at the landfill concept stage. The pipe work systems on a landfill site are as much a part of it's infrastructure as the basal cell lining systems. However, the consultants employed to design the basal and tipping phasing are also often the same ones that are asked to design the pipe work systems. Many of these consultants only have theoretical, often outdated knowledge of modern gas extraction techniques so the designs are unworkable, with little or no regard to future tipping operations, volumes and velocities and dewatering systems. 

Our approach is to work closely with the site operator to develop a system that will meet their short term and long term needs - from both an environmental requirement viewpoint and revenue needs (e.g power generation, gas sales etc). Cost is always an important factor, and a good design at the outset can save a LOT of money. We can provide as much input as you require - from concept design to full costing, project management and installation of the system. A rough guide to the design process is shown in the chart below:
